Mystery Pink Ooze on Secluded Tasmanian Shoreline Raises Anxiety of Possible Algal Bloom

Authorities in the island state are working to identify a pink slime that has surfaced on a secluded beach, with certain experts anxious it could be an phytoplankton proliferation.

Broad Presence Along Shore

The pink-tinged sludge was found on a stretch of Randalls Bay about 37 miles south of the capital. A comparable ooze has also been documented on sections of Little Roaring Beach and Little Taylors Bay.

Samples have been gathered and submitted to the regulatory body for analysis. A spokesperson stated that "algae outbreaks are a natural event in reaction to changes in minerals, temperature, rain or sunlight".
